Soulmate - Your Thoughts?

Soulmate - (n): One or two persons compatible with each other in disposition, point of view, or
                         sensitivity.

The thing which is most curious about this definition - to me - is although it is one definition for a soul mate, it also would appear to be similar to the definition of a significant other. Now, to me, a soul mate is that which is described above, but it's much deeper than that; hence, the word "soul".  It's something which is actually hard to put into words, because it's almost spiritual. That eery feeling we get sometimes that makes the hair on our arms or on the back of our necks stand up - but it's a good feeling; it's also that feeling that makes your heart skip a beat at the mere sight of that special person. It's when being sexual doesn't even cross your mind, (unless of course, you've already been there and done that - in which case I say good job!) because the connection you feel with them is surreal and goes beyond all things physical. I'm talking about a feeling which even exceeds the boundaries of love that every psychiatrist and book on the shelves has told us love is like.

Like I said earlier - it's hard to put into words.

Think about it long and hard...think about your life and all the relationships you've been in and out of, or the one you're in now. Could you imagine your life without your significant other? Do they compliment you? Therein lies an important word - "compliment" - because frankly, I think when a person can truly say their significant other compliments them, odds are they've found their "soul mate".

It's almost a revelation; it's like an epiphany when one recognize this. It's like being given the rights to a treasure chest, but not having the map to its location - when not being able to identify if your significant other does compliment you. However, obviously, being able to say they do is having the map.

What is your definition?

In any case, now you have an idea how I define a soul mate; however, let me flip the script on you right quick by posing the following question(s):

Is there only one soul mate for every body or do multiple soul mates exist?

I've got a thought on this one, but rather than get into my thoughts, I'd like to hear your thoughts on all of this. Let's get a dialogue going on this subject.
